Located at the University of Guelph, ON, CA, the Royal City Masters takes place in Peter Clark Hall.
We will be welcoming players from Ontario, Canada and the World to come and enjoy the competition.
Guelph will be welcoming players from around the world to compete in the Royal City Masters from August 1 - August 6, 2025
Round 1: August 1, 6:00pm
Round 2,3: August 2, 10:00am, 5:00pm
Round 4,5: August 3, 10:00am, 5:00pm
Round 6: August 4, 10:00am
Round 7,8: August 5, 10:00am, 5:00pm
Round 9: August 6, 10:00am
Entries after July 29 are not guaranteed a first round swiss pairing
Refund policy: 85% up to July 29, no refunds after that.

* USD accepted on par, includes HST and admin charges
* Players may play up if within 100 points of rating floor (Crown section excluded) for an additional $50 CAD
Projected Prize Fund: $30,000
Sections: Crown / U2200 / U1800 / U1400 and Unrated
Ratings used for section eligibility: Highest of CFC/FIDE/FQE/USCF
All sections FIDE rated
GM norms in top section
Additional Prizes: Team prize / Family prize / Unrated prize
Team Prize: 4 players, Maximum of 2 from any one section
Family Prize: 2 players, any section. Spouses/siblings/(grand) parents and (grand) children
* Teams and Families must be registered prior to round 2
* Players may register for only one of Team or Family
* Unrated players only eligible for Unrated prize
Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds whole game
Byes: up to 2 requested byes in rounds 1 - 7 if requested before the start of the previous round
